Daniel Blackie, University of Oulu: "Mining for meanings: ideas about disability in industrialising Britian"
This talk explores changing perceptions of physical disability during the British Industrial Revolution. Using the coal industry as a case study, it illuminates the significance of industrialisation to the development of modern ideas about disability, particularly among workers, doctors, and policymakers.
