Forskningsprojekt
MACHIAVELLI AND JUSTICE
Machiavelli and Justice focuses on the role the traditional republican values of liberty,
empire, prudence the common good and justice play in Machiavellis republican theory. The
aim is threefold. First, to inquire into the internal organization of Machiavellis ideal republic in general and into his view of the political and intellectual elite in
particular. Two, to explore Machiavellis highly original and poorly understood notion of
justice. Third, to situate Machiavellis constitutional theory and philosophy of justice
in the contexts of classical political philosophy and Renaissance political thought.
