Forskningsprojekt

MACHIAVELLI AND JUSTICE
Machiavelli and Justice focuses on the role the traditional republican values of liberty, empire, prudence the common good and justice play in Machiavelli’s republican theory. The aim is threefold. First, to inquire into the internal organization of Machiavelli’s ideal republic in general and into his view of the political and intellectual elite in particular. Two, to explore Machiavelli’s highly original and poorly understood notion of justice. Third, to situate Machiavelli’s constitutional theory and philosophy of justice in the contexts of classical political philosophy and Renaissance political thought.
